The Chippewa Cree Tribal TANF Program operates two offices, the main office located on Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation at the old Tribal Office on Agency Square and a satellite office located in the neighboring town of Havre, MT at 109 2nd Street.

The goal of temporary assistance is to, “Move Chippewa Cree Tribal TANF Program recipients from TANF into jobs so they can support their families and maintain a program for those truly in need.”

The Chippewa Cree Tribal TANF policies emphasize work, promote responsibility and set limits while maintaining the Family Self-Sufficiency Plan for needy TANF Program families. All temporary assistance families must participate in self-sufficiency planning, and able-bodied adults must participate in work activities. Temporary assistance sets a 60 month assistance lifetime limit.

Mission Statement

The Chippewa Cree Tribal TANF Program is committed to providing assistance with encouragement in reaching self-sufficiency while promoting wellness, humility, dignity, and maintaining Chippewa Cree Culture.

Vision

The Chippewa Cree Tribal TANF Program will promote self-sufficiency by positive motivation through education and collaborative program resources. Through promotion of self-sufficiency we will keep our children safe and keep our families together. We envision our community to have strong, safe, and caring families.

The Four Purposes of TANF

-             To provide assistance to needy families so that children may be cared for in their own homes or in the home of relatives.

-          To end the dependence of needy parents on government benefits by promoting job preparation, work, and marriage.

-          To prevent and reduce the incidence of out-of-wedlock pregnancies.

-          To encourage the formation and maintenance of two-parent families.

Core Values

Promotion of Cultural Awareness / Healthy Lifestyle Choices / Education / Marriage Promotion

Family Stability / Strong, Safe, and Caring Families
